Three-year starter at cornerback and a two-year starter at quarterback ... Led McCook High School to back-to-back Class B championship game appearances as the Bisons' quarterback in 2004 and 2005. Was a defensive starter during the school's undefeated (13-0) state championship season in 2003. Rushed for 1,145 yards and scored 16 touchdowns and passed for another 845 yards as a senior in 2005 ... Intercepted three passes on defense. Named to the Omaha World-Herald's 2005 Super State (all classes) second team at quarterback . A 2005 first team Class B all-state selection at defensive back by both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star. Named the "Gazetteland Super 45" 2005 Player of the Year by the McCook Daily Gazette. Rushed for 706 yards and scored nine TDs, while passing for 879 yards as a junior.
